Biographical history

Captain Edward Peter De Cunha served in the Merchant Marine with foreign-going ships out of Montreal and the United Kingdom. Towards the end of his career, De Cunha worked as master mariner for Deepsea and B.C. Ferries in the Gulf of Georgia.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of a photo album containing a photocopied book which details the history and ships of the Baron Line titled "H. Hogarth and Sons Limited Baron Line". The rest of the album contains black and white photographs of ships that Edward Peter de Cuhna served in with their names, positions, and dates of service listed as well as letters and certificates.

Also includes a binder containing navigational maps and charts and information regarding the River Thames in London and port in Amsterdam as well as a League of Nations report titled "Agreement for a Uniform System of Maritime Buoyage and Rules Annexed Thereto", published in Geneva, 1936, and printed in both French and English.

Also includes a folder containing an extract from a nautical magazine, training documents, charts and tables, and a plan for Tilbury Docks.
