Mulders, John M. (b. 1932)

Biografie

John Mulders was born in Brabant, in Van Gogh country, in 1932 and raised in an artist family with sketch book, pencil, and brush in hand. Being a realist, he persued a career in agriculture with the federal government and the United Nations.

He came to Canada in 1954 and studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art, the Ottawa School of Art, and the Victoria College of Art. He won many awards for this work which covers a wide range of mediums and subjects.

Previously shown at the Winchester, Leafhill, and Maple Galleries in Victoria, his work is now on display at home and may be found in collections in Europe, Africa, South America, as well as the United States and Canada.

The Maritime Museum of BC has his oil on canvas painting of the little West Coast troller titled "Day's End" in its collection.

Fonds consists of colour photographs of various fishing vessels and Canadian Coast Guard vessels taken by John Mulders probably in the 1990s.
